As electronic technology widely used on an automobile, there are more and more the automotive electronic control units and electronic elements being utilized. In order to simplify the circuits and improve the speed and real-time and reliability of information transmission and reduce failure frequency, the automotive electronic control network technology came into being and has become an important vehicle structural component. CAN bus, which possesses good performance and high reliability and unique design as well as the widespread use of automotive electronic control system, is the only international standard network for automotive electronic control, and is recognized as one of the most promising vehicle electronic control networks.Firstly, the treatise makes an in-depth study of the CAN bus protocol in the automotive control network, analyzing the components of electronic control system and the functions of its subsystems. Secondly, on analysis of the system of CAN bus control network for present type or range of automobile, the model of total automobile electronic control network based on CAN bus has been established. Finally, by CAN bus protocol and combination of a general-purpose single-chip microcomputer with the independent bus controller SJA1000 and the bus transceiver 82C250, the simulation of intelligent CAN nodes and gateway has been made, realizing the CAN communication initially.Referring to the model of total automobile electronic control network and CAN intelligent control node founded in this paper, we can fully understand and master the electronic control system of automobile components and their working principle. Simulating the entire work process is for the automotive industry practitioners to understand and master the automobile electronic control network technology; and it will play a guiding role for designing the vehicle network system and its maintenance and repair work, and can also support the work of teaching and training the automotive network technology.
