Virtual Visual Design At Digital Times

As entering information times which is characterized by brand-new digital technology, human beings need re-consider the relation and structure between people and technology. In our daily life, digital technology is applied in every field, especially in artistic design. As a newly emerging means of creation and expression, this technology is extensively applied in all fields of artistic design, leading us to a new realm of design.With the rapid development of digital technology including computer hardware and software, the new technology exerts great impact on artistic design, making this field more and more digital. Therefore, the traditional design cannot meet the need of era any more, and a new-type design language was born—digital design. Adopting the new digital technology, digital design breaks the traditional design pattern through processing the information elements such as graph, image and color, etc. digitally and then expressing them in digital way. The emergence of this technology has changed human being's value orientation and aesthetic interest, and also designers'concept, working style, designing pattern and contents. It brings a broad developing space for designers to exercise their creativity and imagination. Digital artistic design meets the unachievable effect of traditional artistic design. Through real-time design and modification on computer, it realizes the virtual visual design effect. One keyboard and mouse are enough to complete all works. It saves not only time and efforts, but also cost and improves efficiency. Therefore, this new technology greatly promotes the development of all fields, especially visual related ones.This thesis discusses the three aspects of virtual visual design: graphic, space and interaction. Each aspect exemplifies the virtual feature. For example, the graphic aspect is about virtual design in graph and image; while space is about virtual design in 3-dimensional-space. Through the study and discussion, we will be able to understand more about digital design and how to apply it in the field of artistic design.
