Centralized Operation And Maintenance Management System Design And Realization

Computer networking is one of the fastest-evolving technologies at the present time, and any web sites or network applications requires a lot of servers of various kinds. Many medium-to-large network companies operate hundreds or thousands of networked servers, and some giant companies may even operate hundreds of thousands of networked servers. Compared to the number of servers, much fewer employees manage those servers. A system operation engineer generally monitors tens or hundreds of servers, and it is essential that he or she can know the current status of servers and operate on some or all of them at efficiently.In recent years, the network companies in China are growing bigger and bigger, and many medium-to-large companies, e.g. SNDA, Tencent, Sohu, Taobao, etc., have become aware of this issue, and have somehow developed some integrated management systems internally, combining mature ideas in the industry but targeting their own specific requirements. At the same time, there have also been generic products that allow central management via specific features of server operating systems, and are welcome in some areas by server operators.With this circumstance in mind and based on the network environments of Linux and Windows operating systems, this treatise analyses the network structures of main Chinese network companies, and studies in depth the development technologies of operating and management. The Integrated Operation Management System (IOMS) is designed and developed in the process as part of the results. Here are the main contents of this treatise:1) It studies in detail the current status of integrated operation management, lists the mainstream integrated operation management system (including SoftLayer, SNDA, WedAdmin, Hupu, and other products), and analyses in depth the advantages and disadvantages of those products.2) It investigates the business and application environments of specific kinds of network companies—networked games and web sites—and finds out their common characteristics. 3) It introduces briefly Python (language), MySQL (database), and related modules and libraries used in development.4) According to the investigation results, the requirements are proposed, the goals and objectives of IOMS are fixed, the system architecture and communicate protocols are specified, and the IOMS is implemented. After the code completion, the system passes validation, and is used in production environments.5)It summarizes the real result data of IOMS, and presents the current development results and future prospects.
