As an important part of modern radar system, radar data processor has played vital role in extracting target information, estimating the trajectory of the moving targets, calculating target positions and realizing the high-accuracy real-time target tracking. The data processor of the millimeter-wave multi-function radar described in the paper is mainly used to realize the functions such as air-to-air and air-to-ground multi-target tracking, classification, processing and data output, simultaneously performing the communication with the display, servo, receiver, transmitter, signal processor, radar system and navigation system and so on.The paper introduces platform and algorithm design of the data processor of a millimeter-wave multifunction radar, which closely revolves the development and the application of the new technology. It adopts the interactive multiple model (IMM) filter in the algorithm of trace while scan (TWS). The Digital tracking system uses the Ellipsoid tracking door criterion which can provides better performance. The paper also research the global nearest neighbor(GNN) optimum search data relevance algorithm and sliding window law in the track initiation and consolidation. In the design of hardware platform, it considers the stability, real-time performance, scalability, operational complexity in order to make the the system more flexible. The tracing property meets the system requirements through extensive simulations and static, dynamic, field tests on various moving objects in static and flight mode. The design also considers with engineering, domestically production, environmental adaptability, installation requirement, and etc. After the testing, the data processor installed in helicopter worked stably and reliably, successfully passed vibration, electromagnetic compatibility and temperature cycle and other tests, fully met system design requirement., and the method has laid a good foundation for later deployment and extended application for the multifunction radar program. It can also be extended to the civilian field.
