Simulation of natural scenery is one of the hotspots in computer graphics. It is widely applied to weather forecasting, scientific computing visualization, 3D games and so on. Irregular natural scenery simulation is one of the most important parts of natural scenery simulation. Irregular natural scenery's simulation method is very complex due to its movement randomness and shape fickleness. Particle system is one of the irregular scenery simulation methods. But the traditional particle system always use large amount of data, so the calculation is complex, rendering speed is low and fidelity is not high. This paper studies the structured particle systems and multiple textures technology to improve the speed and fidelity of irregular scenery simulation. The major works and research results are as follows:1. We study the basic principle of irregular scenery simulation based on the particle system and made some improvement of the structure of particle systems. Optimize the system from Particle formation, particle update, particle rendering, particle extinction and other steps. Study of the texture mapping technique, hierarchical structure optimization, hybrid blending technology systemically. Texture mapping technology and hierarchical structure optimization technique and blending technique are put into use at Irregular natural scenery simulation after systemically studied them.2. A new algorithm of flame simulation based on the improved particle system is proposed. At first this algorithm analysis of flame on thermodynamic and uses structured particle system to simulate the flame in different periods and regions. And then it employs multiple texture technology to render the flame. The difference between multiple texture mapping and single texture mapping is the multi-texture stores more particles attributes in textures. It improves flame's sense of reality and rendering speed.3. After analyses the functions of fireworks system and sum-up of the fireworks shapes and special effects of fireworks, an improved algorithm of fireworks simulation is proposed. This algorithm changes the common structures of typical particle systems to improve the fireworks simulation effect, such as peony-type, coconut–palm-type, trailing, flashing, multi-layer, et al.
