As one of the most active branches in computer science,computer graphics has become the indispensable cornerstone for the development in the area of information technology.At the same time,computer graphics has penetrated into almost all areas such as scientific research,engineering,business,arts,social life and production,and promoting and facilitating the development of these areas mutually.At the same time, the virtual reality technology based on the computer graphics has developed rapidly.In the virtual reality simulation,the simulation of irregular natural scenery has become one of the hot research topic.With the continuous progress of science and technology,the processing speed of computer and capacity of dealing with the large amounts of data are also rising.However,simulating the irregular natural features,especially the flame simulation is also very difficult.In view of the combustion of flame is more complex,using the computer to achieve a perfect flame of real-time simulation is difficult.Thus,according to the specific needs and direction to study the basic characteristics of the flame and the changes of combustion properties in not only having theoretical research value,but also having important significance in practical applications.In this paper,we based on the study and the review of the classical flame modeling algorithm, optimizing the flame simulation of particle systems,using the texture mapping techniques to improve simulation level in the drawing and the rendering,using the bulletin boards(Billboard) technology to improve the efficiency of particle rendering,and introducting the simplified force field and the color mixing algorithm to simulate a more natural flame.At the same time,we increase the system's real-time by using the polygonal patches instead of the light source particle in classical particle system.Finally we use the Visual C++6.0 as the programming language and the OpenGL as the open graphics library to make the demo system.The flame model is applied to the project of "Physical Health Test Platform"in virtual simulation laboratory.We use it to simulate the flame conditions of copper in color reaction.The demonstration system has a certain degree of scalability,the simulation results of flame has the stronger sense of reality,while achieving the real-time requirements.
