In this paper, according to the actual technics of glass bottle production line and basical requirement of the inspection system, the detection algorithms and software of bottle on-line detection system are described based on the hardware environment of Canavision Company. Then some processing algorithms of glass bottle image are presented, as well as the location algorithm and defect inspection algorithm of the mouth, wall and bottom of glass bottle.For the bottle mouth and bottle bottom location, we use a new method:combine with the method of tangent scanning and chordal perpendicular bisector. The experiment shows that this method position accurately, and the error is very small. When do defect detection, we design a method of straight line scanning based on conditions. First, we do linear scanning on the location square area to find defect points, and judge whether these defect points are in the circular area, and then we judge whether the bottle is qualified. The experimental results prove that this method is simple and can effectively detect the bottle defects.For bottle wall location, we use image cutting. Image cutting not only can decide the area where defect detection in, but also can accelerate the image processing speed. The preprocessing algorithm of bottle wall is mathematical morphology close operation. We get the target defects after the algorithm. When do defect detection of bottle wall, we use linear scanning method.
