Research And Implementation Of Event Data Analysis System Over EPC Network

With the speedy development of RFID technology, studies andapplications of EPC Network draw attention. The EPC network is based onthe Internet so that the business event data of commodities can be shared.EPC network applies RFID and other automatic identification technologies, toimprove automation of supply chains. Therefore, event data can be bulky andeffectively captured in real time. EPC network may change the currentmethod of logistics information management, providing with various datacapture approaches and plenty of product data. End users can carry outmacro-statistical analysis on the event data, help enterprises adjust productionplan, delivery strategy, then eventually increase the core-competence ofenterprises. This research is based on the current standard of EPC networkinfrastructure, to design and implement a prototype system for analyzingbusiness event data from the supply chain, and to support strategy decisionsfor enterprises.This article is based on the EPC network, to study the solution of eventdata analysis system. This solution first bulky gathers EPC event datascattered in the network by accessing EPCIS query interface; then the systemstores event data to the backend, transforms data into a specified model forpath oriented queries, which inquire the aggregation result for some productsand path patterns; the end user submits query for analysis tasks by using awell-designed query syntax; the system parses the query requests, convertsthem into data analysis tasks, executes these tasks and sends back the resultsto the end user. With this solution, end users only need to learn a simple query grammar to compose elementary data analysis tasks, and deal with statisticalanalysis of EPC event data effectively.This paper first introduces the background and current status of the EPCnetwork and event data analysis, puts forward the objective and idea of thisresearch; then proposes the prototype for EPC event data analysis byintroducing the data collecting method, the event data storage model, andquery syntax for data analysis; then technically exposits the design andimplementation of major modules, provides the data analysis prototypesystem for supply chains in EPC network, states the simulation and showcaseof this prototype. At the end of this paper, it summarizes the result anddiscusses the future work of this research.
