High Dynamic Range (HDR) image is a kind of image that can vividly show the wide range of luminosity levels in the real scenes. Nowdays, HDR image has a wide range of applications in the area of computer game designing, medial imaging, satellite remote sensing and computer graphics. Because of the traditional imaging system which can not capture HDR image directly, we need a kind of algorithms to generate HDR image using computers. However, the speed of HDR algorithms based on the Personal Computer is not fast enough to meet the applications.The traditional HDR composition algorithm is based on RGB color space which calculating RGB channel data respectively. This article introduces a method based on YUV color space which will only calculating Y channel data instead. Therefore the speed of the YUV method is faster than RGB color space because of the less data for processing.This article tries to implement the digital image processing algorithm on the DaVinci platform. TI has introduced TMS320DM6446 DaVinci platform which is an ARM and DSP dual-core multimedia processor. The TI DaVinci platform can make full use of the ARM's strong peripheral device management capabilities and DSP's fast digital signal processing capabilities. TI has also introduced a set of software components such as Codec Engine and Codec Server as the bridge of ARM and DSP for communication. This article focuses on the high dynamic range image composition algorithm based on the YUV color space and studies the implementation of the image processing algorithm on the DaVinci platform.We develop the DSP side algorithm and package it into a DSP executable file and develop the ARM side program which can capture image based on V4L2 and display image on the LCD based on FrameBuffer device driver.DaVinci platform's dual-core architecture is suitable for the digital audio and video processing which has a wide application in human face recognition, intelligent supervision, intelligent traffic and vehicle video processing system. This paper gives some valuable references for the digital image processing on DaVinci platform.
