As the system's data storage center, external memory is an important component of computer system. The traditional external memory is represented by hard drive.But because of the increased use of the computer, the mechanical structure limits its IO rate and stability. With the development of storage technology, the memory chips with low-power, high-speed, high-stability are widely used, EEPROM, NOR FLASH, NAND FLASH and PCM have begun to replace hard drive in various fields.The main task is designing the PCIE phase-change memory card,using phase-change memory chips as the storage medium.In the design, we use the low-power, high-speed, long-life phase-change memory chip as the storage media, high-speed, highly reliable PCIE interface as the connector, combing with CPLD and the Verilog hardware design methods, and the WDM driver development technology, successfully realized the PCIE phase-change memory card.The design of phase-change memory card includes two parts: hardware design and software design. In hardware design,we analyzes the PCIE protocol and the characteristics of phase-change memory chips, described the feasibility and necessity of combining the ASIC chip PEX8311 and CPLD, and then gives the detailed design of the PCIE interface and phase change chip array access control program. In logic design, combining Verilog and CPLD realized the access control of phase change chip array, and simulation Verilog code to ensure its accuracy.In software design,we develop WDM device drivers based on Jungo's Windriver to achieve a direct read and write, and DMA transfers.Through basic IO test and DMA transfer test,we prove that the PCIE phase-change memory card can work in Windows XP, achieve the designed goals, have important practical and reference value.
