Polymer dispersed liquid crystal is obtained through the implementation of phase separation by nematic liquid crystal and polymer mixtures, it has two kinds state of transparence and dispersion under the switch function of electric field. As a new display mode, PDLC with a simple preparation, high brightness, fast response, enabling a large area and many other advantages, it has made application in electric windows, liquid crystal light valve, phase grating, the field of holographic recording film, is a hot topic of research in the field of liquid crystal device.This dissertation describes the SLC of sheared liquid crystal, stretched liquid crystal and compressed liquid crystal, introduces a variety of liquid crystal electro-optical properties, a number of applications of Stressed Liquid Crystal is introduced.This paper reports the Piezo-optical Effect of Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal, experimental samples were prepared, it has two kinds of state of scattering states and translucent state, before and after compressed. The PDLC film in the scattering state changed into transparent state after compressed, this phenomenon should be called Piezo-optical Effect of PDLC. This article discusses the impaction of material components, polymerization and curing temperature for sample preparation. The pictures of piezo-optical effect and polarized photographs of PDLC films are given, the electro-optical property spectral analysis and piezo-optical effect spectral analysis are given.In this paper, the piezo-optical effect of PDLC is preliminary studied, the order parameter of liquid crystal droplets is calculated, the scattering and refractive index of the PDLC is discussed, and theoretical explanation is given. Piezo-optical effect of PDLC films is proposed, which shows only if the liquid crystal molecular in micro-droplet is well orientated, the PDLC films will be transparent, no matter what the liquid crystal molecular director in different droplets are orientated uniformly or not.This paper envisages several potential applications of the Piezo-optical effect of PDLC film, the drawing board of the Piezo-optical effect of PDLC is given, the dimming glass of the Piezo-optical effect of PDLC is given too, the application of photo elastic is proposed.
