China is a country which has long history with a great of cultural relics. Cultural relic repairis the most important work of cultural relic preservation. The domestic and foreign scholarsmainly research on fragments matching, but few persons pay attention to the repairing of culturalrelics from the damaged parts. This paper mainly introduces the method of repairing the culturalrelic damaged part by 3D reconstruction. Use the bimirror reflection method which proposed inthis topic, though pictures of cultural relic, establishes the 3D model of the intact part, then wecan make 3D repairing of its incomplete part. From these we obtain the complete cultural relic3D model. The key technologies this article involved are mainly improvement of Canny operator,3D reconstruction based on bimirror reflection, the shape matching and the fuzzy matchingalgorithm, and the splicing technology and so on.This paper contains three parts. First, you only need two photographs by the method oftwo-mirror reflection image acquisition which can save the data space as possible as you canwhen obtaining the 3D information completely. Besides, this method can preprocess thecollected images: process the pictures by method of mathematical morphology; then detect theedge of images by improved Canny operator. Finally, extract both inside and outside edges to getthe outer edges of the complete outline of the image. Secondly, reconstruct the object by themethod of two-mirror reflection. By using zhang calibration method, we can get inside andoutside parameter matrix and angle of camera, determine the reference frame of 3D model,confirm the 3D point coordinates, calibrate. Then we obtain 3D models of the object. Finally, weuse shape matching and fuzzy matching techniques to achieve the 3D model of the damage partand recover texture.In this paper, we introduced the method of constructing 3D model of cultural relics. It isproved be good for the texture of wood, ceramic and plastic. It will be a support to relicconservation and provide some reference to relics conservation workers.
