The terahertz (THz) wave is situated between the light wave and the radio wave frequency band. It has many potential usages due to its many special characteristics. America and Japan are devoting plenty of human and material resources to the THz research in recent years. It is also a big disparity for us to regard optics and the electromagnetic wave research compared to the world advanced level. It has certain practical significance to THz research. Nowadays, the researches on the THz are mainly focused on the THz wave source, the survey, the propagating of THz radiation, image formation and so on. In propagation aspect, that needs to apply certain transmission facility sometimes due to the presence of large attenuation coefficient in free space for water absorption characteristic. And needs of long-distance transmission of THz has the request to its equipment loss and the chromatic dispersion characteristic. Therefore the THz Transmission is a crucial part of THz technology development. The present dissertation paper has done the research work on the transmission of THz in metal film coated rectangle waveguide, which mainly devotes to investigating the propagating characteristics of the THz pulse in mental coated mental pipe rectangular waveguide and draw some conclusion on it. This dissertation can be divided into following chapters:1. The basic property of THz and actuality of the investigations are summarized. Some of the research newest progress as well as several kinds of propagation facilities and THz source are introduced, especially the THz transmission in split rectangle waveguide is reported.2. The propagation mode characteristic of THz in the closed metal dielectric coated metal-pipe waveguide is simulated, the attenuation coefficient of the THz pulse transmitting in various hollow waveguides coated with metal film is also simulated theoretically, Together with different waveguides port shapes to THz propagation influence, the preparatory work of the THz propagating experiments are also presented, the theoretical discussion can be applied to the THz transmission in practical rectangular waveguide.3. It is commonly using the coating method of mental-pipe waveguide for reducing loss. The attenuation coefficient of the THz pulse propagating in dielectric film-coated waveguides are calculated which based on the equations derived from ray-optics method, And we have done some simulations on the influence of attenuation because of using dielectric film on the mental surface. Some conclusions are obtained by certain calculations on the transmission loss of the THz pulse in dielectric film-coated mental-pipe rectangular waveguides.4. In addition, the transmission loss by waveguides deformation is simply analyzed.
