Design And Implementation Of Management Information System For College Student Dormitory Based On UML

Along with the rapid development of computer software technology and network technology, new kinds of means and methods for management become more and more favored and welcome, because they are of networking, automation and paperless, and will largely improve the efficiency and level of the management. Especially in the universities and colleges, campus network is so widely used that has played an important role in the teaching, studying, life and entertainment of teachers and students. Therefore, the campus management should also utilize network and fully play its functions as a platform.College dormitory management is a very important issue. In recent years, more and more students enter into colleges due to the expansion of college entrance enrollment. Some private universities and colleges also expand the enrollment in order to obtain higher profits. The dormitory scale of some private universities and colleges has been increased from several-thousand students to ten-thousand students or above. Nowadays, the quality and level of management in private universities and colleges vary largely. In many private universities, student dormitory management is still an all-by-hand status which is original but lead to problems such as inefficiency of the management, poor keeping of data and a high error rate of data.In order to effectively improve the outdated dormitory management status and fully utilize the present platform of campus network, we independently designed and developed a management information system for zhujiang College of South China Agricultural University, by login in which would help the teachers and students obtain information and services. Especially for the dorm staff, they can handle various daily management works by easily clicking the mouse on their desks. This will for sure greatly improve their capabilities of daily management and emergency response.This paper is based on the sufficient analysis and demonstration of demand and needs. This paper uses object-oriented technology and UML unified modeling language for systems analysis and design, the B/S (Browser/Server) as architecture, SQL Server 2000 Database as back-end database, Java language for development and design, and succeeded in commissioning.This system consists of four function modules: basic business processes, data maintenance, information inquiry and user management. This system can effectively implement features such as new accommodation, accommodation or cancellation for students, registration of guests and visitors, inspection and registration of routine health discipline, real-time query of accommodation. To a considerable extent, these features resolve many problems arising from the management of students'dormitory.
