With the rapid development of the precision guidance weapon, thecompound guidance technology of infrared and laser active imaging is anew trend of study. Taking the advantage of high sensitivity, resolvingpower and large view field, the infrared imaging technology can becombined with laser active imaging technology which has the laserreflecting image and ranging information. The dual-mode guidancetechnology can detect and recognize suspicious targets automaticallyagainst complex background.The air-to-air or air-to-ground missiles in being equips IR imagingguidance system widely. Even with the rapid developing of the ICtechnology, the heat resolving ability and the size of Infrared sensor havelargely improved correspondingly. It still has many difficulties to detect andrecognize target from complex background and withstand the infrared flaredecoys. The laser active imaging system and the IR imaging device receivethe reflecting and radiating energy at different wave band respectively. Sothe image information they fetch and output have considerablecomplementarity and compatibility. The compound system, comparing withthe separate subsystem, can extend the detecting range and improve theresolving ability. It will also promote the ability of all-weather operating to ahigher level. By combining and processing these two kinds of image data,the information of real target can be extracted from complex backgroundand impact of infrared flare decoys. Here mainly illustrates the scheme andstudy of image processing of the IR and lidar compound system. Basing onthe research, support the development of an actually dual-mode guidance missile seeker with theory and technology.The mechanism of infrared imaging and laser active imaging ispresented. Algorithm progresses of pretreatment, denoising, division,character extraction and target recognizing are described respectively.These Algorithm modules are used for components of the infrared andlaser-active imaging processing. The imaging processing of rang gatedlidar is emphasized. Taking one with another, the complementarysuperiority of dual mode guiding can increase the probability of targetrecognizing from the complex background or against infrared flare decoys.
