Guarantee Company's Infrastructure Virtualization Design&Implementation

Our company was formed through acquisition of another foreign guarantee company.The overall IT infrastructure and manpower was rather weak and less established. The ratherprimitive structure with disparate data spreading across different aged servers and PCs, thesituation has been reversed during the stage two of the company expansion, with hiring ofexperienced team from the banking sector. A more formal governance framework wasgradually shaped with consideration of data security, accuracy, integrity and connectivity.Based on the organization business growth and current infrastructure situation, the headof infrastructure was charged to quickly build an independent data center. Prior to theestablishment, a proper plan need to be in place for short to long term planning.This paper consolidates current mature technology in virtualization and disk storage. Italso takes into consideration of issues facing IT continuity, applicability, and integrity. In thepaper, I do the detail design and implementation introduction. It contains the snapshot backup,VMotion, P2V (physical to virtualization). The solution is suitable to our firm in terns ofeconomy and effectiveness. In our firm, after finished the solution of virtulization and diskarray, we do the core loan system stress testing and do the VMotion from a problem physicalenvironment to virtualzation environment by virtulization software.The solution not only applies to our company, it also resolves common issues facingother organizations, with practical resolution that can be shared with other peers in the sameindustry.
