In recent years, with the great demands for various kinds of electronic productsof the markets, the printed circuit board (PCB) of electronic product manufacturing isin great demand too. So the international and domestic markets also are in great needof micro solid carbide drills specially used for PCB (abbreviation as microdrill in thispaper).Because the size of the electronic products decreases rapidly, the size of PCBmicrodrill also becomes much smaller (usually in mm level and below), there are agreat deal of broken and worn microdrills in the manufacturing process of PCB. So itis very meaningful to research how to resharpen the wear microdrills to make thembecome new qualified products, it can also reduce production costs and protect ourenvironment.The paper establishes a wireframe-type numberical model of microdrill inMATLAB platform. Then acquires the images of microdrills and detectes the wearsurface of worn microdrills in Vision Assistant of LABVIEW, lastly make acoordinate matching plan of wear lacation and the established model based on thedetection plan.In the process of mathematical modeling, firstly, this paper studies themanufacturing process of microdrills, make clear the manufacturing parameters ofmicrodrill body and the parameters of grinding wheel when manufacturing microdrills.Secondly, classifies and studies these parameters, curves and their geometricrelationship with mathematical knowledge, solves the curves' parameter equationswhich can directly expressed with the parameters. As for the intersection line of flutesurface and the second facet which can not be expressed directly by the parameters,develop a certain algorithm to solve the intersection points coordinates of the flutesurface and the second facet and express the shape of the intersection line with the setof the intersections. Lastly, assign certain values to the parameters and confirm thecorrectness of the model. As for the acquisition and processing of microdrill images,this paper acquires the images of wear microdrills with the builded experimentalplatform, detectes the wear extent of the lacation around main cutting edge, chiseledge and minor cutting edge, and makes the coordinate matching plan of detectiondata and the established model, then makes an adviced resharpening plan of the wearsurface.
