Pulse s haping i s a pr imary method to c ontrol u ltrashort o ptical p ulse in femtosecond technology. With the further development and application of ultrashort pulse, study of converting the simple pulses to complex waveforms has become more and more important in order to achieve optimal control of the interaction between light and matter, and signal processing. Due to wide spectrum of femtosecond pulse, shaping ap paratus c an make i t s pread r ather wide in s pace a nd e asily implement spatial f iltering o r r egulate a mplitude a nd p hase o f light f ield t o obt ain specified shaping pulse waveforms. In practice, femtosecond pulse shaping has a large numbers of potential applications in optical communication, dispersion compensation, coherent control, signal processing, medical and biological imaging and other fields.This paper focused on research of system of femtosecond laser pulse shaping. On the ba sis of f emtosecond opt ical pul se characterization, mentioned two ba sic structures of photonic c rystal f ibers femtosecond laser a mplification s ystems, indicated a general method of g enerating a cer tain w aveform; analyzed s ome influence f actors of p ulse s haping us ing S LM, and f ound out the s olutions. Expounded t he w ork principle of t he S LM a nd t he 4f s ystem, and bui lt i ts Mathematical M odel; Transmission process of t he pul ses i n t he 4f s ystem is derived; proposed an improved system which used the silvered concave mirror and goldplated grating instead of the convex lens and ordinary grating; constructed the amplitude a nd pha se modulation systems; c alibrating th e relationship of wavelength-pixel and the phase-voltage of SLM accurately; compiled the automatic calibration program, and the communication program which help the PC to control the SLM easily; realized the generation of the square wave pulse using the photonic crystal fiber femtosecond amplification and modulation system ,and introduced this system in detail; designed the modulation function of the modulator, so as to get the square wave pulse output with high energy; and in the end introduced the research direction next step.
