LBS (Location Based Services) is a wireless communication technology application service to provide users with a variety of geographic information services. It already has a very strong basis of theoretical research and very broad market prospects. Meanwhile, mobile communication terminals like mobile phones and PDAs provide users with services such as convenient communication and mobile computing. Users are urging mobile terminals for more information to better enjoy the results of wireless communications technology. The mode that LBS client runs on the mobile terminal, is not only fully reflect the advantages of LBS, but also play a role of mobile terminals and extend functions. From the market and users'demands, to make a systematic research on Mobile Terminals LBS is very valuable and necessary.This paper analysis application requirements of the proliferation of mobile communication services market in-depth, use of software engineering and object-oriented development methods, use of Java ME (Java Micro Edition), Client / Server architecture, MVC design pattern, Extensible Markup Language-XML and the communication protocol programming techniques, designed the Mobile Terminals LBS prototype system in detail and implemented the prototype system by Delphi and Java. The main work and innovation are as follows:Firstly, in-depth study the development and present of LBS, make comprehensive analysis of Mobile Terminals LBS market and user needs, propose three kinds of LBS application mode;Secondly, using Extensible Markup Language (XML), the format of communication data in the system has been unify, the system scalability and data compatibility has been increased;Thirdly, combined with the characteristics of Mobile Terminals LBS, proposed a method to simplify the application layer communication Socket protocol suitable for the mobile communication network environment, designed and implemented the method;Fourthly, completed a Mobile Terminals LBS system software design, including requirements analysis, overall design, server design, client design and database design, and designed focusing on the network communication module, message classification module and the location to obtain module in detail;Fifthly, completed the building of system development platform for hardware and software configuration and development environment, and implemented the Mobile Terminals LBS prototype system by Delphi and Java ME.
