NGB is the next generation broadcast TV network. It is based on the digital process of cable television and the results of China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting. It is supported by the core technology of high performance broad-band information network which is developed by our own. EPON+EoC technology can make comprehensive use of the network resource and save a lot of the cost that contributes to network building and system administrating. So, it is the first choose of the access network of NGB due to the high performance and low cost.Based on the HomePlug AV standard, the author proposed a new hardware and software architecture of the EoC system, and finished the system design and validation. The content of the thesis is list below:First, it introduces various EoC technologies briefly, comparing them on some aspects such as parameter, throughput. Then, it specifies the HomePlug AV standard specification elaborately, and describes the system framework, the principle and function of all the parts detailedly.Next, it describes the external interface, hardware framework and design of the master and terminal device. The EoC master is composed of a CPU module, a switch module, a HomePlug AV module and a power module. In order to reduce the cost and simplify the design, the EoC terminal makes up of a switch module, a HomePlug AV module and a power module. The two devices are connected by a cable network.The hardware builds the basic data path and control path. The software has to complete the administrator function. The thesis describes the software framework, the detail design of all the modules of the EoC system. By the software, we can control and administrate the device effectively, such as data service configuration, multicast service configuration and ONU adminstration.At the last, we do the PHY layer and MAC layer testing under the lab environment. By analyzing the results, we can calculate the usage efficiency of spectrum by MAC layer and we know that the system works in a half-duplex mode. In addition, we can find the choke-point of the system.We have finished the first stage work and are doing testing under actual environment currently. Of course, there are many works have to do in the future, such as fixing and solving the problems of the system, add software function. What's more, how to work with the EPON system to suit for the architecture of current network, how to make the change to NGB is also an important research point.
