The rapid development and wide application of the Remote sensing is one of the most iconic scientific and technological achievements in 20th century, the radar and hyperspectral are particularly important. Hyperspectral remote sensing provides us with more information, the processing of remote sensing image processing has become a hot research field, and used in military and civilian aspects widely. Therefore, research how to make use of hyperspectral data has important practical and theoretical value.Monitoring and displaying for water body and environmental elements of coastal zone based on hyperspectral data is an important component of Earth Observation. This Paper focuses on several important aspects of research, including the typical target detection, analysis and retrieval of sediment, coastal environmental management system. Firstly,this paper introduces the current development of hyperspectral remote sensing, a brief introduction on the development of imaging spectrometer and hyperspectral remote sensing technology advances in developed countries;and then,providing the initial summary and overview of the recent studying in suspended sediment of water and hyperspectral image target recognition,that pave the way for the later chapters.The target detection is an important part of the coastal monitoring. The traditional classification method is usually only used spectral information. This paper studies on both the spatial and spectral information for hyperspectral image detection. The main idea is to extract the spatial characteristics of images by use of the mathematical morphology ,then combine with the original spectral data for the target detection.The experiments show that in the case of maintaining the high case detection rate , the false alarm probability reduced greatly.Then,this papaer introduces the retrieving sediment of the water in Wuhan with the use of hyperspectral images and TM images. We tried to use the methods of Band threshold, Spectrum-photometric and water body Identification to extract the water. After comparison, the subsequent processing are based on the water body Identification. Sediment inversion is based on previous studies, using sediment identificationmethod for retrieval of sediment content,we compared the result to the information recorded.It can be seen from the results of this comparison, the results of sediment identification inversion can be an objective distribution of sediment concentration.In order to manage the coastal elements, we design a coastal environmental elements and information management system based on GIS. Using a mature product named ArcEngine.We loaded the images to the system and outlined the target in images and describe the other information of the target so as to establish the environmental database for the necessary of military and civilian knowledge by the way of human-computer interaction.In this paper, we studied on the typical target detection method of the coastal Zone, sediment analysis and retrieval environmental elements management system to the foundation of the earth observation system.
