As the economy and society is developing, the video monitoring technology is widly used. The demand promotes the video processing technology and the embedded system technology.The chip giant TI released the DM6446 multimedia platform combining DSP chip and ARM chip, which is capable for the video monitoring. In the whole video processing system, ARM and DSP have the unique characteristics between each other. While ARM as general purpose processor is good at syetem controlling and closely related with embedded operation system, DSP's computing ability is extraordinary among all kinds of chips.This paper researches on the xDM multimedia algorithm standard,codec engine, codec server etc. The hardware drivers are installed by using the U_boot bootloader tool and the linux operation system is tailored for the specific chipboard.All the hardware initialization work is finished to establish the foundation of the aplication software development. After the hardware functioning well, the codec engine is configured on the ARM subsystem and codec server is configured on the DSP subsystem. The whole DM6446 system can handel the linux operation system application and the high-speed video processing simultaneously. At the end, the further application software developments such as the video recording function and the IP network camera function are finished basing on the DM6446. The system runs stably and efficiently, which is able to be used in many areas. |
