In recent years, the electronic information industry develops rapidly, and the SCM technology is also gradually replaced by the more powerful embedded technology. By now, the embedded technology based on ARM is developing by leaps and bounds, more and more embedded devices are fused with human beings'daily life, such as mobile phones, cameras, MP5, audio monitors and so on. Embedded technologies with ARM as controller and some operation systems has been the mainstream of current electronic information industry.This dissertation designs an embedded hand-hold menu order system based on ARM9. The system mainly consists of three parts:server end, hand-hold menu order end, and network communication module. The focus of the design is hand-hold menu order end and network communication module. The hand-hold menu order end employs the S3C2440 MPU of ARM9 as the main control chip. Extended FLASH, SDRAM, touch screen, and DM9000A network card chip constitute the embedded development platform. On this platform, embedded development environment is built, while the Linux system and network drivers are transplanted. By using QTE graphic interface, information exchange between end and server end is realized through wireless network. On the end of hand-hold menu order, the clients can order menus, cancel orders and ask adding dishes easily, while at the server end, bill payment and menu renew can be realized.The embedded menu order system developed in this article is based on open source Linux operation system, which reduces the cost significantly. The use of ARM9 has greatly reinforced the reliability, stability and expansibility of the menu order system, while QTE graphic interface makes the hand-hold menu order system with aesthetic feeling. And this system is of some commercial value in catering industry.
