With the multi-band antenna and frequency radar be widely used, many scholars are inspired to interest in the study of FSS. At present, many research institutes have carried out theoretical analysis and experimental studies of the FSS, and have achieved certain results. In this paper, the Simulation software Ansoft Designer is used to design two kinds of composite element frequency selective surface: One is Adjustable composite element frequency selective surface; The other is dual-band frequency selective surface of composite element. The results show that the two composite element frequency selective surface are adjustable, which will be a potential applications in the communication and radar system.1. The design of frequency selection surfaces (FSS) with compounded unit-cell which is composed of square-loop and cross-loop is proposed in this paper. The transmission frequency response is very stable with respect to the incident angle variation. The required pass-band or stop-band can be obtained by adjusting the periodicity of unit cell and the dimension of outer-loop and inner-loop.2. The design of frequency selection surfaces (FSS) with composite elements composed of square-loop and ring-loop is proposed in this paper. The proposed structure is with dual-band frequency response and also very stable with respect to the incident angle variation. The first frequency band is controlled by the outer loop while the second frequency band is controlled by the inner loop. It is observed that the dual-band has the independent controllability.
