With the rapid developments of the Chinese economy and increasing efficiency of land use, dynamic monitoring of changes in land resources has become more and more important. In order to provide fast and scientific data sources, the one need to use remote sensing technology to monitor land use, adopting the use of computer technology combined with professional knowledge of land and practical experience , through logical reasoning and study the characteristics of the image, distinguishing feature types. So we can accurately analyze the conditions land use and development to provide a timely and accurate information to ensure that the current situation of land use.Owing to varied remote sensing image intensity, lots of information, complex background noise and edge density, some of the image edge detection algorithms for edge detection in remote sensing image effect is difficult to meet the actual needs. Therefore, with the method of structural analysis preferring mathematical morphology and edge in remote sensing image, it is more applicable to extract edge information.In this paper, the author designs a multi-scale and multi-direction morphological edge detection algorithm which is based on the traditional morphological edge detection algorithms, adopts different scales and contains structural elements in all directions, reaching the better solution of remote sensing image noise edge detection filter and fine.
