Information Retrieval Research Based On User Cognition

With the deepening of the degree of information, a lot of information have filled with people's lives. Complex, diverse, dynamic information multiplied, and how to search the appropriate information in the ocean of information to becomes one of the problems encountered by people. Information retrieval just address itself to the users'needs information. Through a variety of information retrieval systems, users try to achieve their information needs. Traditional information retrieval is based on "system-centered ", but with the increase of user groups and the user-level diversity, the traditional information retrieval can not meet people's needs, so "user-centric" information retrieval is gradually catching the public attention.The development of cognitive science leads new directions for information science's development. The establishment of the cognitive theory of information directs workers in the information area to change their old, narrow view, and shift from the study of the information itself to the study of information users. Following this change, the "system-centered " traditional information retrieval and "user-centric" information retrieval have been changed to "user cognition-oriented " information retrieval. In cognitive information retrieval, researchers pay more attention to research on user awareness, and focuse on users'interaction behavior in information retrieval. Information retrieval based on cognitive behavior is no longer a separate mechanical act, but a complex behavior which always interact with the situation and the system, and is conducted in the interation. Search tasks'generating and search strategies' developing both are in the impact of the users'situation. The user's cognitive style, cognitive ability, domain knowledge, knowledge of user search have a profound impact on behaviors of information retrieval.By studying the concepts of cognitive information retrieval, analying the impact of information retrieval, user cognitive factors, behavior of user interaction and user interaction factors, and integrating cognitive information retrieval model, an user interation model of cognition has been proposed, and an analysis of the significance and shortcomings of the model is given.
