| Since Alexander Graham Bell succeeded in transmission of voice on the line in 1876, the public switched telephone network (PSTN) has been rapidly moving forward.From original anolog signal transmission to digital signal transmission; from exchange operator to digital SPC exchange; from basic calling feature to customize calling and multi services, PSTN is the best witness of the telecommunication innovation. However, in 1980s, along with the computer network and internet, data network experienced a rapid development, voice becomes an application on the data networks, then packet voice comes out. Especially with the voip technology which is based on TCP/IP protocol, the traditional voice communications system reformed.The enterprise telephone is business phone system which can provide call hold, three-party conference, call transfer and other business features, it's growing up with PSTN. The companies are willing to put voice over the data network because data stream already becomes the main application in the network. Such kind of packet voice network can provide many more voice services which is needed by enterprise users. Meanwhile, it can save huge cost of the long-distance call. IP-PBX is the represents of this system. But in recent years, more and more communication technology appears, such as voice mail, instant message, instant presence, video call, online meeting, more and more companies request a high efficient, open platform, easy expand communications system, but not the voice call only, that's the Unified Communication.This paper is focused on the Cisco unified communications solution, and the deployment in Cisco APAC briefing centres, including the IP network design, IP addresses assignment, server setup. Finally summarized this project and looking forward for the future development of unified communications. |
