The development of wireless mobile communication technology makes that communication technology has moved from the traditional to the progressive development of video telephony and multimedia communications services. Therefore a higher bandwidth and larger capacity requirements are needed for the wireless network. MIMO technology (MIMO, Multiple Input Multiple Output) in wireless mobile communication technology as a major breakthrough, which greatly improves the system capacity and spectrum utilization, is increasingly concerned about. However, more multi-antenna RF link are required in the wireless MIMO communication system set, which not only potentially increases the hardware costs, but also increases the complexity of the system. In the case that the system performance loss is not too great, antenna selection can reduce hardware costs and cut down system complexity. In this thesis, the antenna selection technique is researched.Firstly, in this thesis, the background of the wireless MIMO technology appearance, status and problems existing in were discussed in detail. Then the effect of the antenna selection for MIMO system performance is analyzed, and the affect of the antenna selection for BER and channel capacity is discussed in depth. Then a system based on MIMO antenna selection is established. And the formula of MIMO channel capacity was derived.Secondly, based on existing antenna selection algorithm, a new selection algorithm that is called as NS based on norm and singular value is proposed. This algorithm could enhance the system performance of the channel capacity, while the reduction of system complexity is considered. In the quasi-static Rayleigh fading channel, which real and imaginary parts with mean 0 and variance 0.5 i.i.d is used as complex Gaussian channel environment. V-BLAST codes, BPSK modulation and zero forcing detection system plan is designed. And the use of design programs were carried out on the communication channel bit error rate performance simulation. Studies show that the proposed new algorithm simultaneously reduces the error rate and the complexity of the system. Finally, the distributed MIMO system and the channel fading characteristics of the distributed MIMO system are researched and analyzed. The existing variety of antenna selection algorithm and performance characteristics are introduced and investigated. A improved incremental selection algorithm combined with Gorokhov incremental selection algorithm which suits to a distributed MIMO system is proposed. In the quasi-static Rayleigh fading environment, simulation experiments show that the improved incremental selection algorithm achieve the reduction of system complexity in the case of small performance loss, which is the effective selection algorithm for a distributed MIMO system.
