DVB-C2, the second generation of digital video broadcasting standard for cable system, was published as the blue book A138 in April,2009, and it has become the official standard in July,2009 published as ETSI EN 302 764. DVB-C2 adopts the newest channel coding and modulation technologies. It can make full use of TV-cable network and provide HDTV, VoD and so on. Under the same configuration with DVB-C system, C2 system improves the utilization rate of frequency spectrum. Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks are being optimized providing enhanced performance. In pace with the integration of telecommunications networks, cable TV networks and the internet, DVB-C2 systems will satisfy the growing commercial demand.DVB-C2 has a utilization rate of frequency spectrum, because it uses OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation technology. OFDM is developed from MCM (multi-carrier modulation) technology. Its outstanding feature is that all the sub-carriers are orthogonal with each other and it can be realized by IFFT. Besides, it uses BCH+LDPC connected coding mode and supports QPSK, 16QAM-4096QAM modulation modes, while DVB-C supports 16QAM-256QAM modulation modes.This design adopts Xilinx's Virtex-6 family FPGA as the platform and uses ISE12.3 and ModelSim6.5 for the development and simulation to realize the OFDM modulation system based on DVB-C2. It designs the Constellation Block, Data Slice, Time & Frequency Interleaver,Frame Building, IFFT Block, etc. and includes coding and verification. Matlab is used for assistant computation to verify the code and the simulation. Beside, a DVB-C2 made by Simulink is given in order to understand DVB-C2 well.First, this paper introduces DVB-C2 OFDM modulation system. Then it researches the Constellation Block, Data Slice, Time & Frequency Interleaver,Frame Building, IFFT Block, etc. and finishes the design of them. This paper designs a plan which can realize M-QAM modulation using only one ROM and introduces a scheme which can realize TI & FI without delay.
