Design And Implementation Of The Firmware For A Tobacco Selling Terminal

Since the founding of P.R.C., Chinese tobacco industry has developed quickly. During the past 60 years, tobacco industry made great achievement and gradually became an important industry for tax making. As a member of WTO, all walks of life in China must face more fierce competition. To be successful in today's customer-orientated market and the fast-changing society, tobacco industry have to improve their IT ability and self competitiveness, so to adapt to changes of the market and satisfy customers. However, as a state-run industry and for some historical reasons, the mostly used information admission system on PC cannot find a right balance among function, stability, low-cost and portability. As a result, the spread of IT technology lies far behind other industries.With the deepening of reform and opening up, science and technology of China is developing at an increadible speed and the IT industry also booms quickly. Great progress is witnessed in computer technology, communication and Internet. As a branch of computer technology, there is also big breakthrough in embedded system.Because of its powerful function, stability, low cost and compact size, different kinds of embedded system are comprehensively used in all walks of life, and receive recognition.The background of this thesis is a project, which aimed to develop a Internet Sell Terminal. By using a hardware platform based on the official solution proposed by Samsung called "SMDK2410", this special internet terminal is designed to meet the needs from tobacco industry and used for tobacco selling only. The main content of this thesis showed as follows:1,We pay special attention to customers'requirement on system functioning and give out customized solution2,Considering the features of embedded firmware, we try to design a three-tire embedded firmware, including boot loader, kernel of the operating system and root file system, for Xinyitong Tobacco Sell Terminal.Until now, Xinyitong system is in good condition and its test run will be start in many places in China. In Shandong, Qingdao and Zibo will hold the trial program.
