The network service's detonation type growth promoted the communication and the computer technology rapidly expand, people on the communication bandwidth demand has gradually increased, Meanwhile, Internet content and services is also a higher quality of service requirements. With the development of optical transmission technology and mature applications, the transmission link and the transmission node are no longer the main factors in limiting the development of backbone network, but the switch and the router which as a business node have become the "bottleneck" of the network performance. In order to adapt the growth rate of the network traffic and bandwidth, the large-capacity and high-performance switching technology is facing new challenges, this is not only the continued focus of the current domestic and international, but also the developing trend of next generation switching fabric.This thesis is exactly directed against problem described above, regarding the next generation switching fabric as the main researching object. Do research on the next generation switching fabric, and designing on its simulation system.This article describes following parts:1. Introduce the switching fabric related background and its development now and before briefly.2. Study and discuss the next generation switching fabric collectively. From the perspective of the traditional switch architecture, discuss and analyze the switch architecture of the next generation switching fabric; From the perspective of the traditional scheduling algorithm, discuss and analyze the scheduling algorithm of the next generation switching fabric; From the perspective of the back pressure mechanism, discuss and analyze the back pressure mechanism of the next generation switching fabric; From the perspective of the traffic model, discuss and analyze the traffic model of the next generation switching fabric. 3. Analyze and design the simulation system of the next generation switching fabric, with the application of Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 and MFC, completes the system architecture design and its internal details, including:designs the multi-stage simulation configuration, realizes the setting of the multi-stage simulation configuration files; designs the fault configuration, realizes the setting of the fault configuration files; designs the import multi-stage configuration, realizes the import setting of the multi-stage configuration files;4. The construction of the system has been completed according to the design. Then it is put in the trial. The result proves the correctness of its design.The future developing trend of the switching fabric is need for higher performance, flexible scalability, enhanced reliability and good economy, the next generation switching fabric is to move to these properties.
