With the rapid development of the modern radar technology, the radar system not only requires the transmitters have simple and basal function index early,but also much more rigorous performance index. as a modern radar transmitter, it is required that not only the basal function index, for example, frequency band, output power, signal form, and so on,but also the performance index according as the radar system requires, for example, frequency stabilization, and so forth,specially,is required to synthetically achieve all indexes.Since the multiple-beam klystron technology had been introduced into China from Russia at 1990's, the multiple-beam klystron has been made in our country by some relational research institutions inland, therefrom, the multiple-beam klystron, qua an excellent microwave amplifier, has been applied widely into radar transmitter, and, qua new-style microwave amplifier, indicates the development direction of the radar transmitter.This paper is based on a PD radar transmitter system, studies a majority of technologies of the multiple-beam klystron transmitter, and specially studies how to realize the high performances of the multiple-beam klystron transmitter. First, this paper discusses the study actuality, work principle and performance characteristic of the multiple-beam klystron, in succession, discusses the history, actuality, performance index and the pivotal index of the multiple-beam klystron transmitter, specially, probe into the cause and control of the phase noise.based on all discusses, This paper studies the system and circuit designs of high performance multiple-beam klystron transmitter in detail, include system amplifer chain,high voltage power supply, modulator, accessorial power supply designs. Finally, provide the primary test data of the project specimen.
