Research On Vehicle-logo Location Technology

Vehicle-logo recognition is an important research area in the vehicle recognition technology based on visual,it has the important theoretical significance and the practical value,its application prospect is very broad.Vehicle-logo recognition system includes two key steps: vehicle-logo location and vehicle-logo recognition.Vehicle-logo location is the first step of Vehicle-logo recognition system, its result directly influences subsequent accuracy of Vehicle-logo recognition, so Vehicle-logo location technology is the key technology in Vehicle-logo recognition system.This paper analyzed thoroughly the development situation of Vehicle-logo location technology and problems to be solved,and proposed two practical vehicle-logo location methods.A Vehicle-logo location method which is based on template matching and edge detection was proposed.Firstly, the Randon transform is used to tilt correction of vehicle image; Then locate the car light area through three absolute maximum gradient method, reuse the position prior knowledge of Vehicle-logo, license plate, car light to locate coarse Vehicle-logo positon; Finally, according to the texture characteristics of Veicle- logo background, use template matching and edge detection method to locate essence Vehicle-logo position.Experiment results show that this method is not only applicable to tilt vehicle image but also applicable to various Vehicle-logo background texture, it has very good Vehicle-logo location effect.A Vehicle-logo location method which is based on prior knowledge was proposed. Firstly, to locate the car light area of the vehicle;Then to search Vehicle-logo above the headlight, if the Vehicle-logo is not founded, then to locate the Vehicle-logo in area of headlight which between two lights. When Vehicle-logo is above the area of headlight, firstly to locate the coarse Vehicle-logo position by the priori knowledge ; And to locate the essence Vehicle-logo position by using the mathematical morphological method. When Vehicle-logo is in the area of headlight which between two car lights , then to locate the coarse Vehicle-logo by the priori knowledge of position, after it ,to locate essence Vehicle-logo according to the texture prior knowledge of Vehicle-logo background. The specific methods is, for Vehicle-logo background with horizontal and vertical texture image,to locate essence Vehicle-logo location by edge detection and mathematics morphology technology;For Vehicle-logo background with mesh texture image,to locate essence Vehicle-logo location by tempate matching and edge detection technology . Experiment results show that this method not only is not restricted by Vehicle-logo position , but also not be restricted by logo background texture ,it has practical application value.
