3GPP LTE-Advanced is a high data rates,low delay and packet-based mobile communications system. As the enhanced evolution of LTE, LTE-Advanced is not only backward compatible with the key technology of LTE, but also introduces new technologies to meet the 4G performance requirements proposed by IMT-Advanced. It is one of the key technologies of the fourth generation mobile communication. Based on the introduction of LTE technology, this paper mainly researches on the pilot design and channel estimation algorithm of LTE-A uplink system.This paper firstly introduces the overview and key technology of LTE/LTE-A system, and spatial channel model, then introduces pilot-based channel estimation algorithm of OFDM system, and on this basis, proposes an improved channel estimation algorithm used in LTE/LTE-A system. Simulation results show that this method can improve system performance to a certain degree.Then this paper studys the pilot sequence and structural design of the uplink, and designs two kinds of pilot sequences of non-consecutive resources block and a variety of pilot pattern of multi-antenna and multi-user, then simulations and compares their performances.Finally, according to the requirements of LTE-A uplink pilot system,introducing the orthogonal cover code as a complement of cyclic shift orthogonal,and analysising existent problems and proposing a method of cyclic shift and orthogonal cover code and sequence group hopping joint pilot design instructions, can well meet the demad on the design of the pilot.
