The Examination Of The Body Image States Scale

The research on body image has a history of80years, which originated from clinicalpsychology and has spread to most areas of psychology.Especially in china, most researcheshas focus on trait body image, which uses body image trait measurements. As thedevelopment of the theory, the measurements for body image has developed diversified, forexample, questionnaire measurement, pictures regulation technology, computerizedmanipulation methods, FMRI and so on. As the development of measurement methods, thereliability and validity has improved a lot, making more precise. In contrast to trait bodyimage, state body image become more and more popular in this research field. The state bodyimage questionnaire has been well studied in abroad, which has a proper validity andreliability, but in china, there isn't a detailed study about it.We choose the students in Wuhan Sports University, using questionnaire, experimentalmethod to test whether the questionnaire is available to Chinese undergraduate students insports University.In the theoretical analysis part, we summarize the concept of the body image, themeasurement methods, the differences between sexes, Brain mechanism about body image,trait and state body image, eating disorders and body image, BMI and body image to form thestructure base of the paper.Using the questionnaires, we calculate the test-retest reliability and internal consistencyreliability and standard validity, also test whether the subjects change their exercisebehaviors in difference circumstance.Using experimental method to test Structural validity, first, according to BMI, wechoose obese group and the normal group, the obese group should answer the weight beforeanswer questions in BISS, but the normal group needn't, then compare the two groups. Wealso adopt the high-score and low-score eating disorder group to test Structural validity. Theresults showed that:1,The Chinese BISS questionnaire has a moderate test-retest reliability, a good Internalconsistency reliability in different circumstances.2,The Chinese BISS questionnaire has a good standard validity 3,The Chinese BISS questionnaire has a good Structural validity。4,Female have lower body satisfaction than male to The Chinese BISS questionnaire.5,Face the positive scene, all subjects improve their body image but there is nodifferences; while facing the negative scene, both subjects' decreased their body image,but it appears more sensitive for women6,People have different choose about whether doing exercise in different situations. Theyhave lower satisfaction about their body image in the negative situations,and are more likelyto make a change in behavior.
