Research purposes:In this investigation we evaluated the effect of a13-week training program at1500m and3-week program at sea level on Hemoglobin concentration (HB) serum creatine kinase (CK) activity and serum Blood urea nitrogen(BUN) concentration in national-caliber kayak athletes for the purpose of monitoring the response to training in a hypobaric hypoxic environment. To assess the appropriate intensity and the functional status and level of kayakers during altitude training. Research methods:Subjects included23adult male kayak athletes who were from China Kayak Team (CKT) and training for the The16th Asian Games in Guangzhou and The30th Summer Olympic Games in London. After an initial acclimatization phase, acclimatization phase, recovery phase, intensive-training phase and test phase in altitude training camp, athletes were trained at the sea level for3weeks. Resting venous and fingertip blood samples were drawn every Monday morning following a12-h overnight fast and were analyzed for Hemoglobin concentration, serum CK activity and serum BUN concentration. Research results HB, CK and BUN in adjacent phases increase or decrease slightly with no significance. However, there is a significant change between acclimatization and Sea-level training phase of HB and BUN. Due to the program and recovery, the response of HB, CK and BUN have various trends among each phase. After altitude training, the Trend about athlete's maximum oxygen uptake and exercise performance has increased. Research conclusion.(1)This altitude training program, training in1500m, can increase the level of Hemoglobin concentration in kayak athletes;High-intensity strength training is one of the main factors to affect the level of serum creatine kinase; The level of BUN is relatively high at the end of this program can be attribute to heavy workload at sea-level training.(2)After13weeks of altitude training, athlete's maximum oxygen uptake and1km athletic performance have been improved.(3)Overall evaluation of the training program which is feasible and effective. But Inter-individual variability should be considered in this program, it is better to create a individual training and monitoring document.
