In the new historical period, in order to adhere to the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics and bring about a great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the Party Central Committee and the State Council made the decision of using science and education to revitalize China and applying the strategy of reinvigorating China through human resource development, promulgated a series of documents such as "The outline of reform and development of nation's educational medium and long-term plan"(2010-2020), and convened many important conferences about the nation's educational issues out of the consideration of the overall arrangements for the course of Socialism with Chinese characteristics and the comprehensive construction of the well-off society, these documents and meetings are of great importance to enhancing the quality of personnel cultivation as well as giving full play to philosophy and social sciences in universities, which also sets new request for future development. In cultivating personnel, moral education first principle sets in. Thus, the question that how to improve effectively contemporary university students' awareness of the timeliness of ideological and political education concerns a lot to the strategies the nation and PPC hold in terms of fostering the younger generation and the future. University students' ideological and political education should not be only limited in learning related theories within class and their daily affairs management, ideological and political education is also carried out in the process of attending lectures and activities concerning professional knowledge and expertise, humanity education and science studies, which plays a significant role throughout educational process. Further investigation into the function and law of ideological and political education of college philosophy and social science and bringing this political education into full play is a research subject of great value in study and of big realistic significance.In guidance of the Marxism, this essay also uses materials on philosophy, sociology and education for reference to study some of the related issues of the educational function of ideological and social science by the application of documentary research, investigation method and comparative method, etc.The essay contains altogether four parts. The first part studies that ideological and political education is carried out in the process of philosophical and social education within college. It mainly focuces on the essence of the ideological and political education, characteristics and functions of college philosophical and social education, and questions towards "neutralism" and "objectivism" have been raised in the presentation of humanistic knowledge.The second part is about and emphasizes the illustration of the detailed information and basic features of how the ideological and political education is carried out in college philosophical and social science.The third part is the combination of the college philosophical and social science and theoretical course of ideological and political education. In this part, it analyzes both the advantages and disadvantages of the implementation of theories of ideological and political course in the conresponding activities, and also between college philosophical and social science and ideological and political activities. The realization and request towards the combination of the two subjects are also illustrated in this part.The fourth part, system mechanism of the implementation of college philosophical and social science into system of ideological and political education. In this part, it also put high emphasis on the ideological and political function of college philosophical and social science, the improvement of organization in execution the combination of the two points and the establishment of evaluation system of ideological and political education towards college philosophical and social science.
