Farmers who make a living outside their hometown are now in a very embarrassing position in China. They have made great contributions to China's economical development, especially to urban construction. However, they don't get the respect which they deserve. On the contrary, they are excluded by urban society for the competitions in job opportunities, living space, transportation, etc which are brought by them. The negative image of this group of people shaped by urban society has influenced the employment and life of them. Therefore, it is of great practical significance to reverse the negative image, so as to improve the situation of this group of people. The dissertation obtains data through structured interview and Method of literature, conducting analysis of the data through the method of Qualitative Analysis. The author takes ZY village in Hezhou of Guangxi as an example, takes farmers who make a living outside their hometown as the research object and analyzes them from the perspective of image study. The author has a review of the situation of this group of people in the history and their living, collects the opinions of relevant persons who are locals of their homeland as well as the opinions of the cities where they are working in, so as to reflect the situation of farmers who make a living outside their hometown. For one thing, they cannot be completely accepted by urban society because of the competition they brought to urban citizens; For another thing, they cannot either be totally accepted by rural society after they have accepted the value and way of living of urban society. This dissertation explains the embarrassing situation of this group of people with Marginalization theory. It concludes that the negative image of this group of people is resulted from the Social Exclusion from urban society, meanwhile, the negative image of them leads to dual marginalization. In order to improve the one-sided and negative image of farmers who make a living outside their hometown, we should no longer only consider opinions of urban society. Instead, we should also include opinions and attitudes of rural society. Through the co-effort of famers working outside their hometown, society and the government, to help this group of people better fit into both urban and rural society, to make them become a bridge between urban and rural society in coordinating development, so as to make the Social harmony and stability come true.
