A Study On Volunteer Service-An Effective Method Of Ideological And Political Education

Since the Central Committee of Chinese Communist Youth League launched the Century Youth Civilization Project and China Youth Volunteers Action, many university students have actively participated in offering voluntary services, which have played an important role in improving the students'communication ability and personality, as well as promoting the universities'moral construction. At present, voluntary service, as an effective way for students to join social practice, has become an effective method in ideological and political education. As a whole, however, the function of ideological and political education has not been fully fulfilled in voluntary service. It still has many problems and need further research and improvement in enhancing the services'working mechanisms, perfecting related rules and regulations, and gaining policy and financial aid.Based on the theoretical research at home and abroad, and with the rapid development of voluntary service in today's world, this thesis defines the concepts like volunteers and voluntary service, discusses the functions of voluntary service of the ideological and political education, and points out the voluntary services'remaining shortcomings and the factors that limit the development. The thesis is aiming to strengthen the construction of the volunteers'groups, give full play to the groups'advantages and then realize the educational function of voluntary service, so as to promote the development of ideological and political education. With the analysis of the current situation, problems and reasons of voluntary service, this thesis analyzes the relations between voluntary service and ideological and political education, and explores various strategies to promote the development of voluntary service from the view of the governments, universities and the society. The thesis is divided into five parts.The first part: The introduction. It mainly introduces the background, purpose and meaning of the thesis. It systematically summarizes current situation of the related study both at home and abroad, finds the shortcomings of the previous researches and the value of this thesis, and puts forward the methods and innovations of the theory of voluntary service.The second part.: Overview of the voluntary service. On the basis of full study in related concepts and theory of volunteer service, it shows the whole development process of volunteer service in China, especially in China's universities.The third part: Thorough discussion about the combination of the volunteer service and the ideological and political education. The thesis gives a clear explanation that volunteer service is an effective way of the ideological and political education in the new era.The fourth part: The problems and the measures to deal with volunteer service in China's universities. According to existing problems of volunteer service, this paper offers systematic, pertinent and feasible measures.The fifth part: The conclusion of the thesis. It points out the limitations of the research that the thesis has given and also proposed further suggestions to the research.
