The reading-involved teaching method is always a key component in Chinese teaching of senior high school. Teaching in reading has something in common with Chinese teaching, but has its own features. Based on the present situation under the pressure of College Entrance Examination, this research is firstly to discuss the necessity of combining reading and life in Chinese teaching from angles of teaching object, contents and goals. Secondly, some exploration is to be made to search for the elements in life from family, schools, society and texts. In the main part of the article, some teaching cases are combined to figure out feasible solutions to the life-related teaching from the connection between the reading-related teaching and some aspects, including life experience, other school subjects, the service to future life, as well as reading material itself. Finally, the paper discusses the phenomenon of "life" abuse in some open classes resulting from misunderstanding and misconception of the theory, and put forward the proper use of "life" according to the classification of the teaching contents, teaching forms, and teaching methods.
