With proceeding reform of mathematics curriculum, cultivation of students'spatial ability has been especially emphasized in mathematics education, and the spatial sense, the fundamental concept of spatial ability, is one of important components of mathematics curriculum in primary and secondary schools. In 2001, the mathematics curriculum standards for full-time compulsory education (trial version) have already made clear requirements for the development of spatial sense and attached great importance to the-cultivation of spatial sense as the significant learning content in the stage of compulsory education. Against such background, the study selects mathematics teachers from two elementary schools in changchun as research objects with the aim to solve the problems and find out the corresponding solutions in the process of the culvivation of spatial sense. The results are as follows:Firstly, although some instructive methods should be highly appreciated, however, some problems have been found out in the cultivation process of spatial sense of senior students in elementary schools.1. Teachers have not thoroughly understood the spatial sense and the related concepts.2. Teachers have not got a keen understanding of the materials of instruction.3. Teachers have not got an in-depth understanding of students.4. Strategies utilized by teachers are limited in form in the cultivation process of students.5. Currently, the measurement system for teachers to-evaluate students'spatial sense development is not quite satisfied.Secondly, the corresponding solutions have been proposed in the cultivation process of spatial sense of senior elementary schools.1. Enhance teachers'professional qualities.2. Strengthen the practical application in terms of daily life.3. Help students master the internal relationships of geometric knowledge.4. Provide students with rich, sensible, experimental, and communicative opportunities.5. Design and develop mathematical activities class.6. Complete the measurement system for the evaluation of students'spatial concepts. Finally, several suggestions have been put forward based on the research results.
