Since Chinese was taught as a separate subject, the debate of the concept of"Chinese"has not stopped,but the concept of"Chinese"has not been substantively defined, which causes great trouble to Chinese teaching.This paper set in the historical background of the concept of"Chinese", discovers that the early debate of the concept of"Chinese"concentrates on two aspects: the debate of classical Chinese and modern Chinese, and the debate of"tools"and"humanity". The main content of this paper deals with Chinese common sense and Chinese practical teaching .On one hand, by analyzing the representative viewpoints of understanding the concept of"Chinese", which were published in the new period in Chinese's research field in our country, this author shows the outline of the debate: What do these discussions about Chinese known as"a long story"convey and from which angles are those discussions carried on, including : what's"Chinese"? Is Chinese's property"tools"or"humanity"? Whether the language needs to be divided into separate fields (division of labor)or not?On the other hand,combining the Chinese teachers'teaching reality and teaching practice in Hongqiao Middle School,this paper wants to reveal the impact of theoretical research on the Chinese teaching in Hongqiao Middle School.This paper is based on the author's feelings, understanding and practice in Chinese teaching in Hongqiao Middle School. With Chinese teachers'teaching tendency and the actual needs of students as research objects, the paper is to express the new understanding of the concept of"Chinese":①According to the article, currently the debate of the concept of"Chinese"confuses the extension and the content of the concept, Chinese is a course of combining words and sense of language, sense of language and emotional sense;②Humanity is not Chinese's unique property, Chinese's humanity should be within the scope of Chinese courses;③Currently"marginalized"on"tools"and"generalization"on"humanity"appear in Chinese teaching and its evaluation, and the result reflects in the present teaching situation------the loss of"tools"and"humanity";④Classical Chinese was repealed by"May the Fourth"movement because it bears as the carrier of the feudal ideology, and now Chinese teaching can focus on the teaching of Classical Chinese, while modern Chinese teaching can guide students to self-study, the approach is to start daily reading (for example open up"Chinese Expo room"), and guide students to read the Classic;⑤The background of"classic"and"modern"debate,"tools"and"humanity"debate in"May fourth"prompts that we must respect students'individuality, pay attention to students' individual development, and combine several teaching cases to illustrate: we should be good at discovering students'" recent development zones"; and penetrate emotion elements in Chinese teaching; At present Chinese doesn't have "branch" teaching conditions, we can try to switch to "layer" teaching.
