With the reform of the new curriculum and the promotion of quality education, the aim of China's education has been transferred from the traditional test-centered to the current quality-centered, of which the nature of science is the main component of scientific literacy. There are many ways to understand the nature of science and the Chemical history education and instruction is one of them.The research objects in this paper are Chemistry teachers from a local high school. First, from the interview we know that Chemistry history (compulsory stage) is often used in actual teaching practice and based on the material they are using the ought-to-be analysis about its function is carried out under the visual threshold of the nature of science.And then classroom observation is needed in order to understand their utilization for the functions of chemical history. Further analysis is conducted so as to obtain the existing questions and the influential factors by combing the interview for teachers. Finally, conclusions are drawn and corresponding suggestions are put forward hoping to provide some enlightenment for the teaching practice, and meanwhile hoping to provide reference and model for the future research.There are five chapters in this study:The first chapter is a preface which mainly includes the research background, the research questions, current situation about research, the research methods as well as the significance of this research.The second chapter is the theoretical foundation of this study which mainly discusses the function of chemical history education and instruction under the visual threshold of the nature of science.The third and four chapters are the body of this paper. First, analyze the function of the selected chemical history under the visual threshold of the nature of science. And then conduct classroom observation to understand their utilization for the functions of chemical history. Existing questions and the influential factors will be obtained form the further analysis.The last chapter elaborates the conclusion and the suggestions. Some related suggestions are proposed attempting to provide certain enlightenment for the teachers.
