With the development of science and technology, almost all the countries around the world treat training and improving students'scientific literacy as the aim of science courses. In the reform of Junior Chemistry, our country also treats improving students'scientific literacy as the aim and the main part. Meanwhile, it is the highlights and focus of Chemistry curriculum. The Chemistry textbook plays an important role in Chemistry Curriculum which can not be replaced by other things. It is the vector between teachers and students in teaching activities. Through learning the knowledge in Chemistry textbooks, students can acquire knowledge and skills. And the appearance of scientific literacy aims in textbooks affects students'learning. So it is a very important way to analysis and research the specific appearance of scientific literacy in Chemistry textbooks. The paper focuses on the key word of scientific literacy, bases on the definition and analysis from PISA and Curriculum Standards. In my paper, I choose the Junior Chemistry textbook published by People's Education Publishing House(PEP Chemistry Textbooks) as text analysis object, the students in Junior Middle school in Changchun as survey object. The main methods I use in my paper are literature method, text analysis method, questionnaire survey and interview method. The literature method is to find the research situation of scientific literacy in Junior Chemistry textbooks; the text analysis method is to analysis the content composition of Curriculum Standards and Junior Chemistry textbooks; the questionnaire survey is to obtain the students'consentience on appearance and its effect of scientific literacy in Junior Chemistry textbooks; the interview method is to obtain obtain the students'consentience on appearance and its effect of scientific literacy in Junior Chemistry textbooks. The research indicates that:1. Base on the definition and analysis from PISA and Curriculum Standards, the appearance of scientific literacy reflects that the dimension of knowledge and skills, process and methods, emotional attitudes and values.2. From the dimension of knowledge and skills in Junior Chemistry textbooks, it mainly contains scientific knowledge. It is relatively good in this dimension. As PEP Chemistry textbooks, on the appearance of common chemicals'composition, nature, application and basic concept in the Chemistry textbooks, it is concise and easy to understand. The editor also pays attention to the knowledge that students have learnt. And the illustrated textbooks are benefit to the students learning.3. From the dimension of process and methods in Junior Chemistry textbooks, it mainly contains scientific method and scientific inquiry capabilities. The appearance of scientific literacy is flexible and the effect is fine.As PEP Chemistry textbooks, the scientific method and scientific inquiry capabilities reflect on Activities and Exploration, Investigation and Research, Home Experiment in the Chemistry textbook. The part of Activities and Exploration is composed of exploratory experiments. Through these experiments, students can discover scientific knowledge, experience scientific inquiry and acquire scientific methods. The part of Investigation and Research aims to test the ability of the scientific method when students put the scientific knowledge into practice. The part of Home Experiment is very useful when students combine scientific knowledge with family life.4. From the dimension of emotional attitudes and values in Junior Chemistry textbooks, it mainly contains scientific attitude, scientific spirit, STS thinking. The effect of appearance on scientific literacy is well. The scientific Attitude, scientific spirit, STS thinking reflect on Discussion, Information, Chemical?Social?Technology. Through Discussion, students can develop scientific habits and raise awareness of the spirit of cooperation. Through Information, students can form scientific spirit. The part of Chemical?Social?Technology is associated with STS thinking. As the total effect of appearance on scientific literacy, it is relatively perfect.5. The junior students recognize the total effect of the appearance on scientific literacy, however, they pay more expect on the dimension of emotional attitudes and values and curriculum integration. On one hand, the result of the students'consentience questionnaire survey on appearance and its effect of scientific literacy in junior Chemistry textbooks show that students are satisfied with most of the appearance of scientific literacy in junior Chemistry textbooks. However, they think that the subject of Chemistry pays little attention to the fusion of other scientific subjects such as Biology and Physics. And the Chemistry textbook is lack of the Appearance of scientific spirit, scientific attitude and STS thinking. On the other hand, the result of interview with some students shows that many students think that"the junior Chemistry textbooks do well in many ways", meanwhile they think that"pay more attention to the dimension of knowledge and skills, process and methods than the dimension of emotional attitudes and values"is also important. As one part of science, the knowledge and methods of Chemistry should be combined with Biology and Physics. Students also think that they can learn more about scientific knowledge by the way they expect. The problems students mention partly reflect the real situation in Junior Chemistry textbooks, and they also have certain representation. In order to better the appearance of scientific literacy in Junior Chemistry textbooks, we think that it necessary to improve some related content:Firstly, implement the emotional attitudes and values in the Chemistry textbook.Secondly, improve related subjects on the knowledge and skills so as to reflect the integration of scientific content and curriculum integration.Thirdly, focus on the appearance of scientific inquiry in the Chemistry textbook, pay attention to chemical exploratory experiments and increase and scientific inquiry related to the content of curriculum materials related resources.Through the research of this paper, I hope that the conclusions can provide some reference for the amendment of Chemistry textbook and junior Chemistry teaching.
