With the reform on elementary education carried out around the world since the 1980s, the concept of Scientific Inquiry is put forward to meet the demand. It is essential to do further research on to the factors of the inquiry study of the students whose abilities are to be fully developed as well. The theory of scientific method covers the key factors including both conjecture and hypothesis, which are also considered to be the necessary link to Scientific Inquiry .In this paper,we deal with the connotation and principle of conjecture and hypothesis as well as the theoretical analysis of the factors that influence the conjecture and hypothesis with the help of the corresponding teaching theory. The author makes a survey and analysis on the middle school students ability of conjecture and hypothesis, putting forward the teaching strategies of developing students ability of conjecture and hypothesis with some teaching cases.
