An Ontological Approach To The Second Sex Of Female Under Reverse Discrimination

Since Plato's concept of idealism as the center, Western philosophy put rationality in the core position. Thereby, they contact male with rationality and logic; link female with emotion and experience; and dissert the problem of the first sex and the second sex from the perspective of depreciating female to a subordinate position. This paper uses theoretical resources such as European and American feminism criticism synthetically and disserts the reality that female under reverse discrimination is still the second sex, that is, the impossibility for female to become the first sex from three aspects, namely logocentrism, binary opposition between rationality and emotion of the ontological field, patriarchal discourse of cognition field decided by this, and female straitlaced gender of politic and ethic field. Meanwhile, this paper discusses the possible path for self-redemption that female surpasses the second sex and walks toward the true equality of men and women. This paper is divided into the following six parts:In the introduction section, this paper reviews the historical research situation and research status of female issues and points out the deficiencies existed in current researches and topics that needed further research. At the same time, the theoretical and practical meaning of this research is demonstrated. The last part points out the research method and innovative aspect.In section one, awakening of female and problems of the first sex and the second sex are put forward. Firstly, this part conducts theoretical decipherment on female subject consciousness and traces back to the difficult process from passive awakening to rational establishment of female subject consciousness; secondly, Simone de Beauvoir's existential feminism's perspective and method and important thoughts in The Second Sex are discussed; thirdly, important thoughts in the book The First Sex with the same name and written respectively by French scholars Jean Duche and Eric Zemmour are introduced; lastly, paradox brought by "the first sex" is pointed out.In section two, ontological statuses of female under reverse discrimination are discussed: the first sex or the second sex? Firstly, meaning of reverse discrimination and its application in female problem are unscrambled; and then it exposits contemporary female ontological circumstances under the background of reverse discrimination:absence, aphasia and peripherization in the three aspects of noumenon, cognition and ethic.In section three, the practical impossibility of the first sex of female under reverse discrimination is expounded, that is, female's "the other" side in mass consumption society. According to the analysis of female ontological statuses in chapter two, and then discusses "the other" circumstance of female under the mass consumption society in the realistic level and analyzes the impossibility for female becoming the first sex. Moreover, many reasons of "impossibility" are analyzed in detail.In section four, the path of female self-redemption is discussed. The possible self-redemption path of female is expounded contraposed to female ontological circumstances and realistic circumstances in noumenon, cognition and ethic. This part points out that only female achieve equal status with male in these three aspects can they truly surpass "the second sex" and achieve the true equality of men and women.In the conclusion section, the author points out clearly the academic standpoint this essay has made for female. However, anti-male chauvinism does not mean anti-male, and not even toward a very feminism, because both feminism and male chauvinism are essentialism. Therefore, the ultimate aim of female movement should be establishing an equal status between male and female based on noumenon, cognition and ethic, instead of antagonism between the first sex and the second sex and alternate to one extreme with another extreme.
