Research On Patent Output Of Universities In China

As the resource of technology in China, colleges and universities are abundant in technology talents, and with favorable scientific research environment. It plays, needless to say, a paramount role in the system of national technological innovation, and is the fundamental foundation of scientific research. Representing the colleges'technological innovation ability, the patent output reflects the innovation ability and performance of them.The research on patent with respect to colleges and universities mainly focuses on patent management for the time being, while there is a lack of systematic research on influencing factors on patent output of them. This paper takes the patent output of colleges as the object of study, systematically analyzes status of it, and the influencing factors and its trend. Consequently come up with solution of promoting the development of patent in colleges and universities.To begin with, this article researches the patent output of colleges and universities during 1999 to 2008, and analyses the current situation, existing problems and relevant reasons of patent output of them; then it constructs the theoretical model of influencing factor of patent output in colleges and universities with respect to resource commitment and soft environment, and carries out the empirical study based on some 985 universities-which is directly under Ministry of Education of PRC; eventually, it predict the patent output of colleges according to the methods of tendency forecasting.At length, this research draws the conclusion: the critical factors significant affecting the patent output of colleges and universities are research capability, consciousness of patent, input of scientific research, the patent management and service system; in the coming years, the patent output of them will maintain the high-speed momentum, consequently, the further improvement in patent management and service system is needed to provide a favorable management environment for the ongoing growth of patent output of colleges and universities.
