English Teaching in Secondary Vocatinal Schools proposes a teaching goal of"training verbal skills and ability of using English in life and vocational fields". This study aims to guide the learners to reconstruct the basic knowledge, comprehensive skills and ability of application of English with the views of reconstructive language teaching. Guided by the constructive views, it is to be applied for the teaching design of Hotel Service English in Secondary Vocational Schools and to be advanced in classroom teaching,out of class activities and teaching evaluation.The author of this thesis has read enormous references, has comprehended the reconstructive ideology of"Creating utterances according to language system and creating new verbal expressions by uttering"and has had an essential understanding of the related researches at home or abroad. According to the analysis a questionnaire, the author has done an initial analysis on the factors both intelligence and non-intelligence,also the factors of learning circumstances, which interrupts the learners'English learning. The author has put forward, in constructive views, a framework to better the condition of learners'English learning after the analysis of the syllabus and the course. With this framework, the author has carried out an experiment in a class of"Service and Management in Hotels in the Vocational School of Chouzhou County"since August, 2008. The experiment has identified the practicality and effectiveness in English teaching in vocational schools with the reconstructive views.This empirical researching teaching has performed a teaching for compensation of the learners basic knowledge and essential skills, training both fundamental knowledge and linguistic competence, and organizing out-of-class activities. These measures have reinforced the learners self-reliance and interest in English learning, have reconstructed the learners'knowledge, have essentially bettered the conditions of learners basic knowledge and verbal skills, have improved learners'ability of using English in vocational fields and has constructed the base of applying English in future life and work. The sum of students of vocational schools covers the rate of 50% among the total and nationwide amount of senior students. Facing the situation, the author of this thesis holds the reconstructive views that a scientific teaching is certain to be a good measures for teaching and teaching reform in vocational schools, is to promote issues, such as learners'interest in English learning, lack of knowledge, weakness in verbal skills and so on.
