Thanks to the constant development of the course reform of English elementary education, the higher requires for teachers are raised by society and school. Teachers must improve their own levels of professional development, so that they can meet the needs of society and advance the educational progress. Therefore, it is quite significant and valuable to study the issue of the professional development of Junior high school English teachers of Sujiatun district and speed up the professional development of local English teachers.According to the research of the topic, the thesis will focus on the following major contents by employing the relevant theories such as Pedagogy, Psychology, education for teachers, the professional development of teachers, English Pedagogy, etc. and adopting the research methods of document method, survey method comparative method, as well as interview method etc.:the first is to investigate the current situation of the professional development of Junior high school English teachers of Sujiatun district; the second is understand the demands and assurance of the professional development of Junior high school English teachers of Sujiatun district; the third one is to analyze the influencing factors; the fourth is to find out the characteristics and deficiencies of the professional development of Junior high school English teachers of Sujiatun district; then explore the solutions of problems.I draw the following different conclusions from research:(1) the knowledge of noumenon and conditional knowledge of the professional development appear to be insufficient, especially the most advanced knowledge of English subject and modern educational technology; the teachers have enough basic competence but lack in the professional expanding competence, especially the ability of cooperation; (2)in respect of specialization of teachers, the level of overall specialization is comparatively low and the developing trend of the teaching team is rather unbalanced; (3)with the growth of teachers' ages, most of teachers have not strong concept of independent development, good self-developing strategies, at the same time they are short of the endurance of achieving their aims. The school training and school studies are not very good, the training content out of school is not the teachers' demands and teachers who are trained cannot play an important role during the training. (4) In respect of teachers' demands, they hope school can carry out the basic idea of promoting teachers' development, the guarantee of advanced studies and training must be strengthen. (5) find out the reasons of the problem the professional development of Junior high school English teachers of Sujiatun district exists (6) achieve some study enlightenmentThe following proposals are put forward by taking into consideration the key problems existing in the professional development of junior school English teachers of Sujiatun district:First, to develop the perfection of knowledge and ability structure of junior school English teachers; Second, to establish a new efficient modal of professional development; Third, to develop the leading function of teachers' training in the local district; Fourth, to put the school's teaching' research first, build a team of teachers' professional development; Fifth, to speed up the schoolmasters' professional development.
