Chinese Professional Guidance Research Analysis And Evaluation

It is nearly one hundred years since vocational guidance developed in China. Although researches in vocational guidance deepen with time, there are only a few systematic analyses on the researches themselves. Abundant academic achievements should be summarized and analyzed. Therefore, it is of great value to study the present states and laws of the development of researches in vocational guidance.414 papers on vocational guidance, published in China during 1980 to 2010, are analyzed with the bibliometric and content analysis method. The results are used to describe the present states of the researches. A social transitions stage model is also used to explore the laws of development of the researches. The conclusions are as follows.(1) The amounts of researches in vocational guidance, which fluctuate occasionally, are on the increase. This trend reflects the development of vocational guidance clearly.(2) The journals of vocational education and adult education are the main carriers of the researches. The core district of the carriers consists of two journals:Education and Vocation and Vocational and Technical Education.(3) Most researchers come from three kinds of institutions:normal colleges, universities or institutes and vocational schools. And they are concentrated in East and North China.(4) Only a small proportion of the researches, which carried out during 2006 to 2010, are supported by the academic projects or foundations.(5) The main subjects of the researches are "vocational guidance from abroad", "vocational guidance in vocational schools", "vocational guidance in universities", "the theories of vocational guidance", "the history and development" and "the curricula and teaching".
